While you are in the area, we recommend you visit not only Greenville, but also the greater area in South Carolina. You will experience a unique stay within a colorful and serene atmosphere during this fall.

Visit South Carolina

For all information on tourism and travel details, we recommend the official tourism website of South Carolina.

St. Francis Fall for Greenville

October 9, 10 and 11 there is a festival in downtown Greenville. You may want to go enjoy the music, sample the food (tasting tickets are $5 each tasting) and go to the river and the park.

The web site is: http://www.fallforgreenville.net

Whitewater Rafting

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer the planned whitewater rafting trip due to too few participants. In case you want to go by yourself, we suggest doing this on Saturday afternoon on the French Broad river near Asheville, North Carolina.  There are several outfits available that organize these trips.  Reservations are required.  Cost is around 45$ per person.  Asheville is about one hour and a quarter drive from Greenville (60 miles approximately), the outposts to register and get the rafts, training and equipment are about 25 miles north of Asheville. See the web sites for directions and information.

Mountain Excursion

If you have a rental car, a worthwhile excursion is to go and see the Whitewater Falls on the border to North Carolina. Getting there takes a little over two hours by car. The drive is nice to combine with a visit to the pittoresk mountain town of Highlands (map).

BMW Production Plant

With BMW being one of the major partners of the DSM Conference, we highly recommend visiting their plant in Spartanburg, which is only a quick 15 minutes' drive from the conference venue. Tours are available here.
